This tutorial will show you a mixed media technique that can be used in a variety of ways! First, I create a watercolor underpainting. Next, I draw a floral motif over the most interesting areas of the watercolor underpainting using Sharpie. Finally, I paint the negative space (around and between the flowers) with acrylic paint. I will be using this project in my middle school classroom for grade 7, but I think it would make a fantastic project for any intermediate or middle school level art class. In addition, this is a wonderful mixed media technique to use in visual journals! Music from BenSound.com
