  • Here's how to talk to your child about it >>>

    Friction is the force that makes slipping and sliding so much fun! Who knew science could be so much fun? Let's go outside and give it a try!

  • 4 activities you can do with your child now >>>

    - Show your child the video and explain what friction is and why it makes sliding fun. - Demonstrate to your child how to slide on different surfaces (grass, pavement, etc.) and explain how the amount of friction changes with each surface. - Talk to your child about different ways they can experiment with friction (ex. sliding on different surfaces, trying different materials, etc.) - Have your child observe how far they can slide on different surfaces and discuss the results.

  • Pretend play with your child >>>

    Game Name: Friction Fun Instructions: You and your child will take turns running and sliding on a tarp, blanket, or flat surface. As you slide, discuss and experiment with different ways to reduce or increase the friction. Try different materials, objects, and techniques. See who can slide the farthest! Have fun and stay safe!
