The Little Red Hen Song is based on a kids folk tale teaching children basic moral values: Be thrifty, take initiative, plan ahead, work hard, be self-reliant, and persevere. Kids also learn about fairness. When the other animals refuse to help grow wheat, make flour, and bake bread they do not get to share the reward of eating the bread.
