The Visible Impact of Smoking: Insights from a Studying Twins

Between 2007 and 2010, a study involving 79 pairs of twins in Ohio investigated the effects of smoking on aging. Researchers found that smoking visibly ages people, as evident in the lower two-thirds of the face with more pronounced bags under the eyes, lip wrinkles, and sagging jowls. The study revealed that even a difference of 5 years in smoking duration could visibly age a person. It highlights the internal and external detrimental effects of smoking and suggests ways to help a relative quit smoking, emphasizing the importance of support, awareness of secondhand smoke risks, and the desire for loved ones to live longer, healthier lives.
