This video is answering the question of what is an insulator.
Tips for Parents

Here's how to talk to your child about it
An insulator is something that stops electricity from flowing. It keeps us safe from electrical currents. Materials like rubber and glass are insulators, while water and damp wood are not good insulators.

Some activities you can do with your child now
- Create a "What's Conducting, What's Insulating?" activity where you show your child different objects from around the house and ask them to identify which ones are conductors and which ones are insulators. - Play a "Find the Insulator" game where you hide objects made of different materials (rubber, glass, etc.) around the room and have your child search for them, explaining why each one is an insulator. - Make a "Science Experiment" by filling two cups with water, one wrapped in rubber and the other in aluminum foil, and then ask your child to touch each cup and feel the difference in temperature to understand how insulators work. - Engage in a "Safety Talk" where you discuss the importance of insulators in everyday life, such as using oven mitts to handle hot pots or wearing rubber-soled shoes to avoid electric shocks, emphasizing the role of insulators in keeping us safe.

Pretend play with your child
GAME: Insulator Hunt INSTRUCTIONS: You and your child take turns searching for objects in your home that are insulators (e.g. rubber, glass). The first person to find an insulator gets a point. Keep score and see who can find the most insulators!

1 take away from the video for your child
"Insulators like rubber and glass block electricity and keep us safe. Without insulators, we would be electrocuted by appliances easily."
