Tips for Parents

Here's how to talk to your child about it
You learned that recycling is important to help the planet and protect animals. The three R's - reduce, reuse, and recycle - are ways to take care of our environment. Remember to recycle materials like glass, metal, paper, and plastic.

Some activities you can do with your child now
- Engage your 4-year-old by asking them to identify recycling symbols on household items and explain their meaning. - Have a conversation about the impact of not recycling by discussing the amount of waste produced by people and the harm it can cause to the planet. - Encourage your child to use their math skills by calculating the amount of paper needed to fill double decker buses and the number of marine creatures affected by plastic pollution. - Teach your child about the importance of recycling various materials, such as glass, metal, paper, fabrics, and electronics, and how it helps reduce air pollution and conserve resources.
-
Pretend play with your child
GAME: "Eco Explorer" Instructions: Go on an eco-adventure with your child as you play "Eco Explorer." Collect different recyclable items around the house and sort them into categories (glass, metal, paper, plastic). Teach your child about the importance of recycling and how each item can be reused. Encourage them to come up with creative ways to repurpose the items they find. Have fun and let your child be the Eco Explorer! Note: Use your child's name throughout the game to make it more engaging for them.
