In this live-action program viewers will learn that an autoimmune disease occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. Students will come to understand that special cells called regulatory T cells fail to do their job of keeping the immune system in line. When this happens, the body makes a type of antibodies called autoantibodies that attack normal cells. The program focuses on Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis and discusses the genetic factors and symptoms of the diseases.
