The children are playing hide and seek. Before Conor can find anyone the game is interrupted by a strange noise outside. It’s the call of the corncrake, a shy bird that visits the island in springtime. Excited to meet the mysterious corncrake, the group decide to take their game to Two-Knocks to look for her. On their way they meet Mick Badger, who explains that the corncrake doesn’t want to be found. He sings to them about camouflage, which birds and animals use to blend into the background. When the children find Hidey-Ho Corncrake, they tell her she doesn’t need to be shy.
