Tips for Parents

  • Here's how to talk to your child about it >>>

Hey your child, you learned about where animals live and how they change to survive there. Different animals live in different places, like the desert or the ocean.

  • 4 activities you can do with your child now >>>

    - Take your child on a nature walk to observe different habitats and identify the animals that live there. - Help your child create their own habitat diorama using materials found in nature, such as sticks, leaves, and rocks. - Discuss with your child how animals have adapted to their specific habitats. For example, the video shows how a polar bear has thick fur to survive in the cold Arctic habitat. - Research together the different types of animals that live in each habitat classification, such as desert or rainforest, and have your child draw pictures of their favorite animals.

  • Pretend play with your child >>>

GAME: "Habitat Hunt" - Take your child on a walk around your neighborhood or a nearby park and look for different habitats (e.g. trees, grass, ponds). Talk about the types of animals that might live in each habitat and how they have adapted to survive there. Encourage your child to spot the different habitats and animals on their own.

  • 1 moral thought for your child inspired by this >>>

Animals can live in different homes called habitats. They change and adapt to their surroundings to survive. Just like us, we can learn to adapt to new situations.
