Today Jasmin goes to Romania, to meet his friend Olga the bat! Discover this new episode to know all about bats!
Tips for Parents
-
Here's how to talk to your child about it
You learned that bats live in trees or caves, sleep during the day, use ultrasound to navigate at night, and eat insects like butterflies, mosquitoes, and flies.
-
Some activities you can do with your child now
- Research more about bats and their habitats to further engage your child's interest in the topic. - Create a bat-themed craft activity, such as making a paper bat or a bat mask. - Plan a visit to a local zoo or wildlife sanctuary that has bats, to see them up close. - Encourage your child to draw or color pictures of bats and Olga, and discuss what they learned from the video.
-
Pretend play with your child
GAME: "Bat Rescue" INSTRUCTIONS: Pretend to be Jasmin and help Olga the bat overcome obstacles in her journey. Hang a rope or blanket from a tree branch to simulate Olga being stuck on the ground. Lift her up and discuss why bats hang upside down. Use a flashlight to simulate Olga's echolocation, finding objects or prey in the dark. End the game by tucking Olga into a cozy "cave" (a blanket fort) for her daytime sleep.
