Visiting a Restaurant

This is a great resource for PHSE and primary school students, this series will take students through different scenarios they will come across in daily life and give them the skills to deal with each one. This episode is all about the etiquette and behaviour expected when going to a restaurant.

    Hey! I learned how to use good manners when I go to a restaurant like saying please and thank you. I also know how to order my food and to be polite to the waiter!

    - Guide your child through the process of ordering food using the menu, explaining the difference between starters, mains, desserts and drinks. - Encourage your child to practice saying "please" and "thank you" when interacting with the wait staff. - Discuss how to handle challenging situations when the order is incorrect or the food is not to their liking. - Help your child to set an example of good table manners, such as no talking with their mouth full, not playing with their food and not running around the restaurant.

    Game Name: Dining Out with your child You and your child can pretend to go out for a meal. Take turns to be the customer, waiter, chef and parent. Discuss how you should behave when you are in a restaurant. Talk about what you would order, how to be polite and how to use the correct cutlery. Have fun!
